Our Story
For eight years, beginning in 2016, James (Jim) McQuiston has been busy researching and writing ten books on the Oak Island, Nova Scotia treasure mystery. He was invited to the island several times and presented in the so-called "war room" often. He has appeared on the History Channel's Curse of Oak Island TV show about a dozen times.
With many dangling questions, McQuiston continued his research which seemed to always lead to another book being necessary to present his new findings. Each volume approached Oak Island through the prism of the same basic theory, yet revealed a new and confirming set of facts with a different angle for each book. Meanwhile, John (Doc) Hamels has been presenting his weekly show, Chautauqua Sunrise, for nine years, with over 460 shows on a wide variety of subjects. McQuiston appeared on Doc's show many times speaking about his books. |
Beginning with the writing of the seventh book, Doc began participating in the research more and more often, descending down "rabbit holes" not earlier explored. Each hole took the team deeper into the mystery, ultimately resulting in a final book - Oak Island: A Masonic Conspiracy.
This last book led to several weeks of trading pertinent findings and ultimately in a two-day brainstorming, storyboarding weekend where many amazing discoveries were made. It was eventually realized that both Doc and Jim enjoyed heading down research "rabbit holes" for additional mysteries beyond Oak Island and so they decided to create Oak Island Plus in order to present their mutual discoveries to the world through an easily-accessed, online production which explores Oak Island and other mysteries from around the world on a monthly basis. All shows can be accessed through this site. |
